We will begin at 1pm and may go as late as 6pm, so please make arrangements to stay the entire time. Please pin-up in this order in the main hall outside the entrance to the TTU classrooms. Each student has 10 minutes.

Tomorrow all students are expected to attend the AIAS meeting at 1pm. Studio will begin at 2pm.  We will have desk crits with your in process models and drawings of the required material below.

Pin-Up Requirements:
1 program/circulation organization diagram

list of total parking spaces required, bathrooms, quantity of ada bathrooms and parking spaces, and frequency of exits/fire stairs

1/32" plans for each level with a key noting total square footage for each program type

1/16" transverse sections at 3 locations: 120' ground,  120' spanning horizontally and 120' spanning vertically

1/32" model- chip board = program,  white = circulation

For Monday, Oct. 1

Tomorrow we will begin with an ADA lecture followed by desk crits.

For Monday, Sept. 24

Everyone needs to finalize program type and square footage for program.
60,000 sq. ft. -vehicle lanes and passport control/checkpoint
60,000 sq. ft. -park and recreation with 30% (20,000 sq. ft) dedicated to circulation

As discussed on Friday the park and recreation program has been left open ended and I have provided a variety of program case studies as examples. Some of you may choose to focus on a botanical garden, landscape and water remediation, sports recreation (soccer, skating, basketball, volleyball, playing fields, running paths, etc), art/sculpture park, urban gardening/farming, outdoor entertainment and performance space or atmospheric conditions of water, air sun, and earth. You can make it highly specific or offer a wide range of program types. Take a position on what a international bridge in the future can be – this new bridge type has the opportunity to change the conditions of a border crossing. If you are struggling to make decisions or have questions please let me know immediately.

By Monday at 4pm please email a list of program and dedicated square footage and one paragraph summary stating what your program is and what it means to a bridge which in the past only allowed for vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Continue working through how you organize program and circulation via physical models at 1/32"=1' scale. Requirements for Wednesday's class meeting will relate to these physical models and the translation into plan and section diagrams.

Desk crits tomorrow

Tomorrow is not a formal pin-up. You will pin-up your work and talk with me individually. Note: plans should be a 1/16"=1' scale, sections at 1/4". Sorry for the previous typo.

For Wedneday, Sept. 19 and Friday, Sept. 21

Start with measured drawings, preferably in CAD. Hand drawing is only acceptable if you are truly drafting, with a mayline and proper drafting tools. Develop in plan the entire length of bridge. Work through the dimensions of vehicle lanes, pedestrian paths and typical dimensions for program. Explore the spatial relationships between these uses.
